Weekend

I made a trip out to the Chesapeake yesterday and had a nice time looking for shark teeth. I found my first Megalodon tooth! It's small for a Meg tooth, about 1.5" - but still one of the larger teeth I've found.

Also finished this watercolor of jingle shells. It's a pretty loose watercolor and meant to be sort of a representational abstract. Not sure how many people know of this shell, but there are common on the New Jersey beaches. They are also known as saddle oysters, but we've always called them jingles - referring to the sound they make clinking together.

Quail Eggs watercolor

quail eggs watercolor painting

8 Quail Eggs - 5x7"
A new watercolor of quail eggs. I'm always fascinated by their different patterns. A little quicker and looser than I normal paint - fun to do something slightly different.

Pirate Ship Illustration

I just added a new 11x14" print in my Etsy Shop. It's a fun illustration with a pirate ship and all sorts of sea animals.

My sister in law is an interior designer and I drew this for a kid's pirate room she is putting together, I will post more about that later - hopefully with some cool pictures.

New owls

I'll have a fun new illustration for Studio Tuesday up tomorrow, but in the meantime... i've put up a couple new owl illustrations at my owl project website. This nighttime desert scene with an Elf Owl, Saguaros, and large Agaves was especially fun to paint.
Check out the other new owls at 100owls.com!
